GAS Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW)

The Gas Tungsten Arc Welding course entails the welding of grooved welds on alloy plate, 2’’ SCH80 carbon steel pipe and 4’’ SCH40 stainless pipe using the Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) process. It also includes measurement, layout, blueprint reading, isometric and P & ID reading, safe work habits, basic electricity, materials and metallurgy, quality control, inspection methodology and communications. Successful graduates are code certified in accordance with ASME Section IX.
Qualified welders are in high demand and will receive AWS coding upon completion of their programme.

Upon completion of this programme the trainee should be proficient in the following areas:

  • Apply occupational safety standards and health practices
  • Identification, use and care of material and equipment, used in weldong and fabricating
  • Perform flame-cutting operations
  • Perform fillet welds using the GTAW process
