Roughneck

Graduates from this programme will be attracted by the jobs on an oil and gas platform and tend to be hired by those employers looking for persons who understand the operations of a Rig.

The roughneck is primarily responsible for working on the drill floor. Responsibilities include handling the lower end of the drill pipe and other tubulars and making up/breaking out connections with large wrenches knows as tongs. Apart from these duties, the roughneck often maintains equipment and lends a helping hand wherever it is needed on the drilling rig.
