This programme will prepare trainees for a career in the energy industry and working in a rig environment. Graduates in this field of choice will be selected to work on an Oil Rig / Platform.

Roustabouts do not generally work on the drilling floor. Their main responsibilities are to ensure that equipment and supplies arriving at the drilling site are off loaded and properly stored at specified locations on the site. They are responsible for basic maintenance activities on the site, such as cleaning, lubricating and painting.

On completion of the programme trainees should be able to:

  • Rigging, Hoisting and Stacking Techniques
  • Body Mechanics Techniques
  • Hazardous materials
  • Basic Inspection and Preventative Maintenance
  • Use of basic Hand and Power Tools
