The NESC’s training prepares graduates for employment in the construction and maintenance trades across all sectors of industry in Trinidad & Tobago
The NESC’s courses are categorised as follows:
Industry Specific Training
These are 9-12 months in duration and are NESC’s traditional training focus. They are designed primarily to address the needs of Industrial Plant Construction and Maintenance Persons can choose from over twenty (20) different full-time courses including Welding, Drilling Trades and Industrial Construction Trades. These courses are also available on a part-time basis.
Apprenticeship Training
An Apprenticeship is a post-secondary training in which an apprentice acquires the respective competencies through a combination of practical and theoretical training. The dual approach to training sets an apprenticeship apart form most other post-secondary programmes. The NESC’s Apprenticeship Programmes are 3-4 years in duration and offer more advanced training to the level of Journeyman. They are designed to address the in-plant maintenance needs of the Energy Sector and the automotive and heavy-equipment industries.
There are currently four (4) levels of Apprenticeship:
- Automotive Services Technician (AST)
- Heavy Equipment Technician (HET)
- Instrumentation
- Industrial Mechanical Maintenance
