The NESC Skills and Technology Centre, Point Fortin was the first of NESC’s Centres and was initially focused on training in Welding (up to 6G code) and Pipefitting & Fabrication, to meet the immediate need for skilled personnel for construction of Train 1 of the Atlantic LNG. Welding remains a much sought after skill for residents of the borough and its surrounding communities.
Over the years since its establishment, the physical capacity of the centre has been expanded to facilitate a wider range of courses to more effectively meet industry demand. Approximately a dozen courses are now offered at the centre, available on both a full-time and part-time basis in most instances.
